    AC Magnetic Clutch Post-Install Issue

    Hello,

I just finished installing my new magnetic clutch onto the compressor. I did notice that the pulley on it did look quite different than the original but I didn't think it would cause much issue. When I proceeded to reinstall the serpentine belt, with the tensioner pulled all the way back, the belt doesn't fit anymore. I was wondering if someone has had the same issue and if they've used a different sized belt or some sort of adjustable tensioner.

Hey guys, i just wanted to give an update. I received my new belt, which is a 5k x 1180 and it fits perfectly. It was on back order, so it took 3 weeks to get it. I don't know if it is like this on the later models, but when I replaced my mag clutch, it was a different brand and the diameter was slightly larger in the pulley section. If you look at the typical belt size, especially if you are ordering belts from sights like autohausaz, it will state 5k x 1155. So keep this in mind if you guys are going to do this job.

Realoem gives different belt sizes such as the standard 1155, an 1180, and an 1190. 1180 seems to fit just fine.

I haven't seen an E31 yet where the 1155 belt fits.

I'm assuming it was probably because it is a 1991 with an m70. I think the oem mag clutch for my specific model no longer exists. Someone with a later model probably doesn't have to worry about anything like this.
