Saggy driver's seat - is there an after-market fix?

BMW520 Model E39 2002 original Black Leather seats

I have just had the engine and transmission refurbished (£7000)

Just one problem needs fixing - the saggy driver's seat (zero lumber support and a saggy bottom).

I have found an vehicle upholsterer nearby in Carlisle.

Is there an after market kit I can give to them to use?

I don't know about an aftermarket kit. I had my driver's seat redone last year and the upholsterer rebuilt the foam in the seat. I've used him before so he knew what I liked. If he'd told me I might have considered buying new foam from BMW, but as it is what he did is probably better than the BMW foam, and he didn't charge me for it. I was upgrading my seats to sport seats from a 540, so he used the leather from the back seat of the donor car to recover the driver's seat which was the only one requiring work.

Sounds like a good reupholstery guy. I had an Audi seat re-stuffed without using factory foam once. Came out OK. Not brilliant. If I did it again I'd either look into the factory part, or, search for some high tech high quality MDI based foam and make the guy use that instead of the plain jane normal stuff he used which was probably some cheap ass TDI foam.

He's actually very good. It's a "mom and pop" operation that's been in business for more than 40 years. I'm always afraid that he and his wife are going to decide they've had enough and retire. He always talks about how hard it is to find good help.
