Hey everyone, I'm new to (writing on) the forum, just got my first e21 about a week ago! It's a 1983 320i sport in BMW black and I'm loving it. I'll post pics and stuff when I get a chance. In the meantime...
I'm looking for mudflaps, because I'm doing sort of a eurorally aesthetic with the car (already has Hella foglights). Ultimately OEMs would be cool if they even exist, but I've also seen really cool AC Schnitzer ones (can't find them anywhere on the internet though). Sparco sells basically rectangles that I could cut myself, but they're not that sick and I'm worried about mounting. If you have some for sale, that would be cool, but otherwise I'm just looking for some people with experience mounting/making/finding flaps for their e21.
Best,
Henry
Congrats on the new car and welcome to the forum.
Oem flaps are hard to come by and if they're available you'll spend a pretty penny for them. Some that I've seen have white bold lettering of "BMW" written on them. Others (I believe on the early models) had a roundel on them.
Finding a complete set, let alone just a pair, are nearly impossible.
To mount your own custom ones, you'll most likely have to drill into the fenders/wells which if you do plan to take your e21 into some stuff where mudflaps would be necessary would invite a little bug known as a rust gremlin.
As far as I know, I do believe the OEMs had metal clips to attach themselves but they can mar the metal further creating problems as they vibrate in the wind.
Best of luck
Maybe save some searches on ebay for used ones?
I've got some rear factory e21 mudflaps, (yeah, yours Wally!) look their age, $60 plus shipping. Can send pics, email me at allanhesch@gmail.com.
Fronts took 2 years of a saved search on ebay but finally got a pair of new old stock "schmutzfanger" from Lithuania for $150.
I've also got a set of 4 BMW mudflaps, unknown fit, you could use to adapt. They're pretty close to fitting an e21, depends on what you want to do with your car. $100 plus shipping.
I have some NOS, which one would you choose ?

Hi Henry,
Welcome to the forum and I am glad to hear there is another e21 in the area. I am in Williston.
I have seen e21 mudflaps for sale on ebay, so if you keep checking you should be able to find a set, given enough time. I was considering finding a set because I often drive on unpaved/gravel roads, but I believe I would need to drill holes to mount them and I decided against it.
There are few events coming up in the area, if you are interested PM me and I will give you the info.
