You can replace them with aftermarket ballasts. You just need one with "D2S" connectors.

This place is more reputable than many of the other 10,000 "BRIGHT LITE FOR YOU CAR" websites.

They even list a Hella OEM ballast now I see. That should be a drop-in although that square gasket on the D2S wire isn't used for our cars.
But I replaced mine w/ Morimoto D2S ballasts from them. You can go w/ stock 35W or upgrade to 50W although that's at your own risk (I bet it'd be fine tho').
The Morimotos or any other aftermarket won't exactly mount in the Hella mounting spots but you can improvise something.

You can also you go much cheaper with generic ballasts. Honestly they work fine too, I have run those in other cars for years with perfect success, but they maybe just won't be to the quality of the Morimotos.

Several things you could do from them, although really only the last one makes sense:
    1. they have a higher quality ballast offered in D2S retrofit all ready to drop in at $55 per side.
    2. you can get any of their cheap generic ballasts at $12-20/ea. then add the D2S cables needed ($15 for 2 so thats $20-28 per side).
    3. get one of their kits that includes bulbs and everything. depending on what ballasts you choose - $55-100 for both sides.

Basically hard to not just go #3 since if you're not going OEM, you prob want to replace both ballasts at once to keep the brightness the same, and if you get the whole kit its the same parts as previous options but for more or less the same money you'll get 2 free new bulbs of the color of your choosing (and again you can upgrade to 50W ballasts if you like).
