Ok...I'm cheap! Michelin originals, still on my car after 14 years show not tread wear, but cracking. Balance is off and although I'd guess they could live another 30k...the rubber is way too old.
I want to consider replacement for all 4 with Michelin original type spec tires offered today..... Michelin's are about $175 ea. Has anyone here found less expensive with same quality?
These are an excellent choice, in my experience-regardless of price, and also according to TireRack.

I got Hankook Ventus V12 Evo 2 all around, just over $100 each on amazon (yes, amazon sells tires with Prime shipping). They're great for the value so far. They are summer tires, which is not a problem being in San Diego, but is something to consider depending on your locale. I'd highly recommend.
Got that..While I've always bought tires installed at various tire places, I've never bought tires online such as Amazon, Tire Rack..etc. My question: who installs the tires bought online?
You can have tires shipped to a TireRack recommended installer near you:

I just took them to a tire shop down the street. Not paying for shipping and also getting it for a cheaper price right off the bat probably saved money even after having them installed separately. Shipping would have been like $50 had I ordered from Tire Rack.
Thanks guys for this info...I do not trust TOWNFAIRTIRE in Connecticut..(crooks by design) .they really screwed me on my last set on my A6 2 years ago! ..Do reputable dedicated BMW indies really want to deal with tires too?
I
Not if they don't have proper mounting & balancing equipment.
I'm now just going to install the Michelin of the same as those 2002 originals. .....I love your car ...not so much the color..but it looks awesome just the same!
