    E46 Disconnected Wiring in Trunk

I was doing some work on my friend's 2005 3 series and noticed what appears to be a disconnected wiring connection in the trunk near the battery. It looks like one red and one blue wire. I'd post a picture, but I can't figure out how.

Does anyone know what it plugs in to? I looked around but didn't see it.

I know the car has a problem with the left taillight and backing light not working (bulbs are fine). Would this be the problem? I have been thinking it was the grounding issue, and was about to try this fix kit.

    TIA,
    Mark

Mark, your car is pre-wired for optional equipment, most likely it is for OEM alarm.

    Welcome to the Forum!

That wire is for the transportation power. You may want to look here to see if that car falls into the recall for the tail lights: https://www.bmwusa.com/safety-recalls.html
