Noisy power steering

2008 330 BMW
While the car is running in park , drive or reverse it doesn't matter. There is a horrible noise like grinding coming from the powering steering unit while turning the wheel to the right . I just replaced the belt and adjuster unit last week. My belt shredded after making a very sudden right turn to avoid an accident not sure if belt shredding was caused by adverse steering to right or not but the belt shredded instantly after doing this. Any ideas?

You can check fluid level of PS pump, but I assume your pump is trashed already.
Replace pump.

Will it just go out all of a sudden like that?

Depends on how long even the slightest squeak from the pump was ignored,
along with fluid level.

On a 2008 330i how difficult is it to change out the pump?
