If your goal is to create the world's fastest M50 engine I'd assume you are a proficient engine builder with a lot of experience with the M50's. Sort of one of those "If you want to do it, you already know how" things...

To answer the question, a different intake setup might be nice. The stock setup is designed for a street car and gives a good amount of torque but that comes at the cost of ability to fill the cylinders at high RPM. A high-revving build is going to sacrifice a lot of low-end drivability but that comes with the turf. You'd want shorter intake runners and as direct an intake path as possible.
Lighter pistons wouldn't hurt nor would a shorter stroke. You want to keep weight of the reciprocating mass low and the less it has to move (shorter stroke) the less force will be applied each cycle
You are going to need a very unique, probably custom cam profile, and probably a VANOS delete
It'd become unrecognizable as an M50 soon enough...

It would be very tough to make it rev high reliably. Crank harmonics arent the best on these engines, just look at all the people having even aftermarket oil pumps break.

That issue seems to be more apparent in engines with the S52 crank, and not so much with M50, M52 and S50 cranks.

Plenty of posts in this board with m50/2 having the nut back off. But to continue without valvetrain work valve float at 7200 is pretty common. OP needs to really ask himself why he needs to be NA. is it for a racing class? If not just throw a supercharger on it or better yet turbo it.

I think that about covers it, you'll be fastest for sure. Looking forward to the build.
