I was thinking about my next brake fluid flush and recall this fluid was very recommended. I did a quick search for it and can't find it for sale. I find other versions of ATE fluid, but not the superblue. Is it no longer produced? What's worse...a quick search on ebay yielded a single superblue bottle for like $100??
If not an option, what's the next best thing you guys recommend?

As mentioned, it is illegal in the US to have brake fluid that is not amber or clear.
ATE Typ 200 is the same fluid as "Super blue."
Thanks for the concern
Unless I'm mistaking, it was banned for reasons other than functionality. I recall fellow 8ers having no issues with it, which is why I wanted to get some. Technically, euro lights are also "illegal" and not DOT approved...doesn't stop us from getting and using those . As a matter of fact, I'm pretty sure I got a liter of the blue fluid somewhere that I got from a fellow 8er.
In any case, it looks like even if I try and was willing to pay premium price (which I would), the thing is discontinued all over the world so looks like I'll have to do with the amber type 200 version.

I've used that stuff for years, alternating with the yellow stuff so you can easily tell when the brake lines have been flushed. Just used my last can when I bled the system for the 6sp swap.

Seriously though, it was the greatest thing in the history of brake bleeding, when it comes out blue you're good to go.
It only took them 15 years to find out what was going on and stop the sale.

It was banned for the simple reason that the blue colored one had never gone through DOT approval. That was it!! There is no other difference between ATE Gold and ATE Blue other than the added blue color. This was discussed in depth in several forums when the ruling came down several years ago. I used to alternate between blue and gold for years before the ban. Stupid decision in my opinion...
