I have an e83 x3 2.5 with a serious vibration as low as 20mph...once it starts picking up speed the vibration starts and its pretty strong.
Shop said it was a bad diff and I replaced that but vibrations still present. I have been through various vibration threads trying to diagnose the issue to no avail. I also mounted camera under the car and dont see much movement.
However today I mounted it in the engine compartment and noticed the engine moving a little more than expected. Has anyone experienced engine mounts causing vibration only when driving?
Will post a link to the video once uploaded.
Thanks for your input guys!
I'm in the market for a decent e46 / e90 MT

You can see the most movement around 25s, but generally vibrations are stronger when i let off the throttle.
Hood open with the car in drive parking brake on blip throttle a few times . The engine should have very little movement but some. Do the same in reverse. This is the easy way to check a mount. A bad mount can 100% be your problem, it can even cause I vibration in gear when your not moving
Me E30 87/ 325i + F25 12/ M-Sport + E32 94/ 740i
G/F’s E34 92/ 525iT + F48 18/ X1
Thanks @e30luv318i I did try that and didn't see much movement...there is sometimes a jerk when moving to R from D but not from P.
Will try to mount the camera underneath the car tomorrow and see if I can spot any movements at the mounts.
Just take it to the shop and pay for some diagnostics
Sadly I have already been to about 4 shops (2 bmw indies) and paid diagnostics 🙈 they have all failed and simply wanted to start throwing parts till it goes away...the most credible said diff and changed that @ $400 for used diff + 4hrs Labor to no avail.
Took it to another Indy today and eill be replacing CSB & Guibo...driveshaft is showing some scuff marks so hopefully that might be it.
It could be your drive shaft. I had one go out and caused a pretty bad vibe. The whole shaft had to be replaced as the u joints aren't serviceable. About $800 if I remember properly.
