I have a 2009 and the last few places I've lived were old enough where the maps were fine. Now I moved outside of Charlotte and none of the roads are accurate anymore. Is there another option for an upgraded Nav DVD than the dealer? I bought one for my old 550 online that had speed traps built in.. it was awesome... anyone have a line on any?
RIP Jess or the idea of Jess or... what OT was.. or whatever...
With the DVD, CCC based navigation, BMW stopped supporting this product and called it end of life. Believe that was first of 2015, with the last Nav disc produced by TomTom 4th qtr of 2014. Would suggest going to eBay and look for the 4th quarter of 2014, released as a 2015 update. No new Nav discs are available. TomTom is not issuing any updates either.
Depending on how old your current Nav disc is, a 2015 update could be of assistance. Don't necessarily need to buy the 2 disc set, if the eastern US disc will do you....
I bought one of the 2015 Mapsets from a seller on ebay. It worked fine for about a week, then quit. Had to go back to the 2007 maps. which work fine. Created a ISO from the 2015 disk, when I read that the original BMW disks were some special type. I burned the ISO onto a number of different DVD's, and generally have had the same results. Works for about a week, then quits. I suspected that the DVD drive had gone south, however, the 2009 disks work perfectly. Even tried to clean the dvd unit, but made no difference. Im not sure if I want to replace the DVD, just to have a chance of newer maps to work.
So the updates may not take permanently? Mine is 2010 528xi
Holes all in the nav system
