    E36 ABS Sensor delete

For all the guys who are running dual caliper and deleted your abs sensor, what did you do to keep the car reving past 5200 rpm? My friend has a 323 e36 with a dual caliper setup and jumped pin 9 on the x20 to his speedo to try and trick the computer into thinking the abs sensors were still tracking wheel speed but it's not working. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

don't you just have to pull the ABS module?

I just unplugged the relays for mine and yanked sensor wires as I got around to it. No problems other than a stupid code for no vehicle speed. But it's a '97 328i. Maybe that matters?

Hey man, you did this on your car and didn't get any Rev limit at 5200? I took the sensors out and got a 5200 limit but all the threads i read for obd2 cars Said that pulling the fuses/relays would still give me the Rev limiter. Is your abs light on?

I tend to have at least two lights on, but I don't really remember what they are.. Shows you how much attention I pay to them, huh?

I rev to about 6,800-ish, like this:

I suppose maybe the rev limiter you're talking about is one I dealt with via RomRaider?? It's been so long and so many projects since that point, that it's hard to remember. I did use RomRaider to mess with my rev limiter, but I don't remember one like you're describing. Could be though.

Basically as soon as I took out a speed sensor in the rear wheel, my abs light came on and I was limited to 5200. I read that when the car has an abs fault caused by the speed sensors the computer limits it to 5200. My car is a 98 323is btw

So, i dont have dual calipers, but i did have the fuel cut issue on super hot days. all of my gauges would jump into test mode as i was driving down the street and then i couldnt get past 5200. i was told to jump it using the method in the first post. never got around to it. i did pull my abs relay a few months back and havent had any fuel cut issues since. On sunday on my way to the drift event my gauges went into test mode 2 minutes from the track. however i did a few pulls before entering and never had fuel cut. maybe pulling the relay gets rid of the issue all together?

I made a thread about this a few years ago. Have your friend try this fix, it worked for me

Dude thank you so much! This is my exact model car so it should almost definitely work. I'm going to do it tomorrow and hopefully it all works! Super detailed good job man.

Hey, I'm currently having this exact issue on my e46 330(m54). How can I figure out if this exact fix will defeat limp mode? Any pointers?

Does the obd1 m50 also suffer this 5200 limiter without an abs signal?
