I have owned this car for over three years now and it has launched my passion for BMW. I am now selling to start shopping for a new, different vehicle. Photos were taken on 7/26/2017; more are available upon request.
I do not need help selling. I am not interested in trades. Email is the best way to contact me. If the advertisement is still up, then the car is still available.
Highlights:
1987 BMW 635csi
Partial Euro aesthetic conversion
Custom Air Ride suspension
18" BBS Style 5 (factory BMW staggered wheels)
212xxx miles (will increase as the car is driven)
M30B34 straight six motor, 4HP22 automatic transmission
Owned since April 2014
Overall condition is fair; it can be enjoyed as-is or is a great candidate for a restoration or a custom project.
EXTERIOR:
Front Euro Bumper and Valance installed
Matching panels
Paint is 10-footer condition, more flaws noted as you get closer
Pea-sizes paint bubbles and chips on sunroof, driver's door
Surface rust on rear wheel wells, corner of rear window
Several large dents on roof and trunk - should be repairable with PDR
Fog light housings and lenses for front valance included -- no bulb or electrical
INTERIOR:
Lama Beige interior - rare color for BMW
Comfort Seats (large tear in driver's cushion, small tear in driver's seat back; stitching split on passenger seat; small nicks on rear seats)
Carpet Dirty, could use a deep clean
Headliner holds well, no sagging
All windows and sunroof work, though rear passenger window is becoming intermittent
Passenger seat controls are starting to fail; Driver's power headrest non-op
Front and Rear A/C (non-op)
Beverage cooler rear console (non-op)
Horn is non-op
Cruise Control (non-op)
M-Tech 1 Wheel cracked and split seams
Cracks in dashboard
Older aftermarket speakers and head unit (JL Audio and Kenwood)
Factory Control Panel next to head unit works, but back light is burnt out
Gauge cluster: Odometer and other gauges work, speedometer accurate, service indicator shows past due, oil warning light flashes intermittently (would not recommend setting trip odometer, as it could shatter the plastic odometer gears)
MOTOR:
M30B34
Original Motor
New coolant expansion tank (Summer 2016)
New air filter (Summer 2016)
New spark plugs (November 2016)
Old/clogged Cold Start Valve, idles low until reaching operating temperature
New Power Steering Lines and Hoses (March 2017)
Rebuilt Power Steering Pump (March 2017)
Last oil service March 2017
Engine runs well and pulls well. Transmission is smooth shifting and fully functional
NOTE: The Coolant warning light is on, due to a bad sensor in the expansion tank. Frequent checks of the tank show a consistent amount of fluid.
EXHAUST:
Factory Headers
Custom exhaust system by Seeburg Muffler of North Kansas City, MO (New single intermediate pipe past the O2 sensor, new catalytic converter, new muffler, single chrome tip https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TXeXBAgd2-U )
SUSPENSION:
Installed by previous owner
Custom Air Lift Struts
5 Gallon Air tank
Viair compressor
1/4" Lines
Manual pressure-based management
New air filter/water catch
Leak from tank, leak from line near passenger rear strut (does not affect drivability)
Pressure Switch electrical fault; new switch installed and problem still exists. Does not affect drivability, but the switch does need to be disconnected when the tank is at full pressure (145psi)
Individual control switches for raising/lowering car behind parking brake
Pressure gauges to the bottom and left of steering wheel, under diagnostic display
WHEELS:
Factory BMW BBS Style 5 (optional wheels on E38 7 series and E31 8 series)
18x8, 18x9
Low offset
Real BBS Japan red logos fitted to modified factory cap
Professionally bend repaired, balance and drive straight
Cosmetically need a refinish (polish/paint/road rash repair)
225/40-18, 245/40-18 Toyo Extensa HP with ~4500 miles mounted summer 2016
BRAKES:
Factory brakes
1/2 life left overall on pads
LIGHTS:
New tail light bulbs, turn indicator bulbs
E34 Projector Headlights
ETC.:
Full-size spare included with 225/40-18 GoForm tire (M Parallel replica 18x8)
No structural rust, minimal surface rust on body
Miscellaneous parts included
I do not need help selling. I am not interested in trades. Email is the best way to contact me. If the advertisement is still up, then the car is still available.
The car will be sold AS-IS, with NO warranty. This is an old car, a project car. Expect quirks, nuances, and other things to happen. It is not perfect by any means. I have done my best to represent the vehicle in writing and photos so any interested party knows the true condition of the vehicle. More photos available upon request. Clean title.
