    535i Xdrive vs 335i Xdrive

So I had previously asked for a recommendation in choosing between a 2011+ 535i Xdrive and a 550i Xdrive..

I loved the V8 but have heard too many negatives about its reliability to opt for it.

So now, I am trying to pull the trigger on my first BMW in the next month or so (Been driving my mother's 2011 328i for the past year)

Pretty much at the point where I think it will be between a 2011+ 335i Xdrive or a 535i Xdrive

Figured I'd ask for some advice from some of the elder members here before putting the money down

    Thanks in advance!

It depends on the level of performance you are looking for. The 535 is a pretty heavy car. I think it weighs almost 1000 lbs more than the 335. I have had both, 3 and 5 series, if you want to cruise get the 5. If you want something quick an nimble get the 3.

535 has obviously more room and luxury ... 335 is lighter and offers more performance
    Reliability is the same

Depends on what you are looking for

Do you know whether the F10 N55 is a reliable engine?

That's a subjective question. Will it need routine maintenance and upkeep? Yes. Is it going to blow up at any time and leave you stranded with a huge repair bill? Not likely

The weight difference is less than 500lbs between an F10 535ixi and E90 335xi depending on equipment level. A far cry from "almost 1000lbs" Now the build quality of the F10 vs the E90 is huge. E90's are cheap, terrible interiors IMO.

The N55 engine is very reliable, they are one of the most common engines that come through the shop where I work and they are no more needy than a N52 or N54 that is for sure.
