NORCAL! N54 Walnut Blast Review - SPEEDELEMENT PERFORMANCE - San Jose, CA

    Hello!

I currently own a 2007 BMW 335i. This car gave me the complete run around in terms of "common N54 issues". Obviously, the basic starting point for an owner of these engines (or any direst injected one for that matter) would be to refresh the intake valves with a Walnut Blast Cleaning! Many people on this site especially seem to stray from tuner shops like so. I wanted to share my experience!

    Here is my car!

I know, I know, most of you already know what this is, but for those of you who are not familiar here is a great read on the topic!

After reading many reviews, and suggestions from my peers I decided to take my car to SpeedElement Performance in San Jose, CA (Near Downtown). These guys are some OG import tuners, who have an amazing rap for building quality street and show cars. One of their notable euro builds include BLURPLE the 335i haha! SpeedElement usually charges $425 for the walnut blast service, which I understand is slightly more than some other local competition. The reason I chose to take my car here is because: While there are a few others that offer the service for less, I wanted to bring the car to a well known shop (rather than just some dude's garage from Facebook (SMH), and of the well known shops in the SF Bay area SpeedElement was the most affordable even offering to start a N54 special at $375. The guys here have experience in most all types of performance cars, service, and needs from JDM to EURO and even Domestic.

    Here is their contact!

    Now, onto the review!

As you can see with the diagram they made for me, the car was filthy! Now it is squeaky clean in there! And you can really tell! The car suffered from some idle hunting especially when cold, and some random misfires and Limp mode. The walnut blast brought back so much more power and torque that I was literally surprised by the performance afterwards! The car pulls more smoothly though the rev range, and hasn't had a hesitation since! if you are having issues with your n54 or n55 then start with this service before anything else, and then deal with the hardware items since they will give you a great rundown on what else may be needed.

See the Before, and After comparison table below! V
