Yeah Merc is moving too from DTM to Formula E.
Might be "the future" but I can't imagine a more homogenized, boring and soul-sucking racing formula.
Current: '94 MX-6 V6/5 • '72 240Z • '10 Mazda5
Past: '02 330i/5 • '85 RX-7 GSL-SE • '95 540i/6 • '95 525i/5 • '86 635CSi/5 • '88 JZA70 • '86 4K quattro • '85 RX-7 S
Wish list: Type 44 • Manta • Pre-'85 CGT • 405 Mi16 • SVX • W123 Coupe
I understand the appeal of Formula E for a manufacture but I personally do not know anyone that watches it on a regular bases and few car friends that claim they have watched a full race. That being said, we are not the ideal customer anymore for BMW and most marks.
My Current Garage:
I'd love to see them in F1.
I think I made it 5 min. into an fE race when I felt a boredom induced coma coming on.
Unfortunate, but accurate.
My longer-term concern is whether or not the cars built over the next ten years are even going to be DIY-capable. The cars over the last ten are already difficult enough to troubleshoot without being plugged into a dealer machine.
I can see the same '57 Chevy and '69 Charger restorations just being recycled over and over again, and that's a shame.
