    Will a 92 325 NV head work on a 97 328 block?

Have a 1992 325is track car, non-vanos OBDI and the motor is completely stock. Handling is fairly well dialed at this point so wanted to start working improving power. I picked up a Dinan supercharger for the 325 and then stumbled across a 1997 328 engine and trans. Best guess is it needs a head gasket or valve work.

Is it possible to use the 328 block with my 325 NV head? There may be some benefits to Vanos and OBDII but I'd rather not spend the extra money rebuilding the 328 head and changing over from OBDI to OBDII.

Figure I'd need to swap the Getrag for a ZF anyway if I ever get the SC installed. The extra displacement would be a nice bonus if it doesn't blow the budget.

I don't think anyone will say to change to OBDII, but I think most will say convert the 328 engine to OBDI, use your M50 mani, and go. I understand there are some bene's from the NV but I think you may find it easier running the vanos M52, as obdI, with a blower. I believe there is much more tuning options for that (?).

To my understanding the NV head has different valve Springs, I believe they are thicker but don't quote me
The head is theoretically the same with the exception of a plate where the vanos is but I have no idea if the sensor locations or ports are different threads or if there is an additional sensor port or if they are the same

The blocks are the same between Vanos and non Vanos engines. So a 328 block is the same as a m50nv block. The heads are what's different. But yes, you can use the 2.8l block on your NV head and supercharge it. Just get the proper gasket and head studs and you should be good as long as everything else in the block and head are good.
Nobody would recertify these machines after somebody screwed with them without any visibility into what they did.

I haven't torn the 328 motor apart yet but am pretty sure it has top end issues. If it's not too bad I can see using the whole motor and slapping the SC on it. If I'm looking at a full recon then the 325 head might be a better option right now.

Either way I know I'll need to upgrade the exhaust system since it's still stock 325. Clutch upgrade is on the list too. Thinking about a WAR chip and then need to get it tuned. Don't know of anyone in my area that can tune the thing so probably a trip over to the Northwest or south. I keep seeing $$$ signs every time I think about this project.
