    e34 touring s52 turbo build

This is a lot of firsts for me, first motor swap, trans swap, engine build, turbo build. Luckily I have access to a mechanic/fabricator and you guys so I'm not alone. Here is the plan for my street car that I would like to novice track day/ air strip race a few times a year. Car must retain AC. 550whp 500wtq would be nice, but its not about the numbers and more so having a fun wagon that can surprise some people.

    -1995 e34 525i touring
-S52, eagle rods, Wiseco 8.8 pistons, VAC upgraded valve springs, misc head work, CES cut ring head gasket, ARP 2000 head studs, weld oil pump nut etc
-ZF trans, twin disc clutch recommendations?? organic or ceramic??
    -Good & tight top mount T4, GT3582R, 3" V-band,
LOOKING FOR ADVICE HERE .63 or .82??
-Fabricator will make downpipe and exhaust
-FMIC right in front of radiator is best option I've seen (might have to move condenser)
-TRM or RK or.... tune (comes with injectors, MAF etc, right?)
    -Misc plumbing (oil, coolant, intake)

    Am I missing anything?

Open to other turbos, just figured the gt35 would be easy for off the shelf tuning.

I'm looking for advice, criticism, what would you do if you had the chance to do it all over again??

Currently, head is at the machine shop, eagle rods in hand, Wiseco pistons just arrived, VAC valve springs at machine shop, cut ring gasket and ARP head studs ordered. Looking to make the turbo purchase soon so open to advice on what to buy and from where. GT35R I found is $1500, don't want to spend much more than that.

    100% go with the 0.82

Check out the gtw line. Butters has the hookup.

Twindisk is overkill, and the uuc disk is very controversial.

You're going to want the spacer with the gasket.

Trm/rk/22rpd/technica all can set you up with a complete tune package.

Valvesprings are pretty unnecessary for what you are doing.

Good luck! It will be 3 times as hard as you anticipate.. dont give up!

    So consensus is .82?

    Can this guy PM me?

Twindisk is overkill, and the uuc disk is very controversial.
What are my other options? I don't want a 6-puck for daily driving, and don't want a light weight flywheel for the same reason, open to options.

You're going to want the spacer with the gasket.
Even though I'm lowering compression to 8.8 I'm going to want a spacer??

Trm/rk/22rpd/technica all can set you up with a complete tune package.
    Will checkout all tuners, thanks!

Valvesprings are pretty unnecessary for what you are doing.
Only reason for valve springs is stock engine had 175k on it, so just piece of mind, and since I was "in there" I slightly upgraded.

Yeah the .68 will limit you with back pressure on the 3.2.

Sorry, if your doing pistons skip the spacer. Missed the wiseco line.

There are other twins, uuc has had a lot if problems in particular.

I'm gonna try and make it out at least one day. Just not sure which day. Unfortunately my motor isn't done yet. I've had some bad luck with a couple of bad blocks. If you guys are coming down early I can set some stuff up for friday or saturday night.

You will need to run the Rapid Spool top mount manifold unless your fabricator wants to get creative. The e34 is like the e30 where it doesn't allow for direct bolt-on bottom mount like the e36/e46 with an SPA.

    THIS
Bottom mount will likely hit the steering arms, and the rapidspool is decent in quality and price

Ok so time to return my SPA and call Otis. Does he make a twin scroll for e34?

After doing more searching and reading I'm even more confused on which turbo I should run, EFR8374? T3 or TS, GT3582R? T3 or T4, seeing as this will be driven 95% on the street maybe twin scroll would be worth the extra cost? but how much more complicated does that make everything else like tuning, managing boost creep, plubming...

For a street car the Borg Warner S300 line is a good price/performance. The EFR is a great turbo but it seems hard to control on the street if you want low boost pressure options.

No reason to go T3 with that size engine IMO. T4 housings arent too big at all. Small T4 housings are about the same size as larger T3 housings.

If you think you'll be content with about 600whp max, than a gt3582r is a proven choice. The Borg Warner s362sx-e is a good choice, along with a Precision 6262 or 6266, as well as a Garrett GTW3684r. Go T4 with an open .8x housing for a good compromise between spool and power output.

OK thanks for the reassurance, I will be content with 600whp and gt3582r

Theres so much room under the hood (top mount) on the e34 theres no reason to consider T3 unless you find a killer deal on a turbo or manifold. Id worry more about intercooler setup over twin scroll, Theres not a lot of room behind the bumper unless you plan on doing something like this which may sacrifice looks, size, and ability to have AC

or something like this, which would need some careful thinking on cooling for the radiator.

I currently run what they called their stage 5 extreme with oem dual mass. Prior to that I ran their stage 3 happily.
