    Changing the valve actuators

I may need to change the valve actuators to eliminate a persistent ticking sound. So when I pull the cam timing gear off the 1993 740il, how do I keep the chain taught so that it doesn't slip and screw up the timing?

It's been a while since ive done the head gasket on my girls 94 but I remember I did use a special cam tool, a block that holds the cams in place so you can remove the gears/ chain without them moving
