BMW z3 Rattling noise at 3000rpms

So I have a 1998 BMW z3 1.9l and have been hearing a rattling noise in the engine once I hit around 3000 rpms. I just don't know what it could be unless it's just something under the hood that's loose. I've checked most of the engine bay. Haven't heard it while idling or even at 3500 rpms. Anyone know what it might be? Or has experienced this?

I would look first for loose sheet metal, like a heat shield.

Maybe the vibration damper mount is cracked.
