haven't had chance to tear the door apart to get at the micro-switch to see if that's the issue - thus I am hoping that by using the BMW Diagnostic software this Fri, I can pinpoint the exact cause of the false triggers. I would rather not have to rip the door apart to get access to the latch (as it seems to be a PITA job).
Will hopefully update on Fri/Sat with good news!
In the meantime, it's been cooler 70deg(F) or below = no false triggers!
so I have my buddy's Schwaben diagnostic tool in hand, but I do not have the 20 pin to obd2 pigtail. Can I still access all the modules via OBD2 connection in the cab using this 17pin-to-20pin bridge modification?

Thank you for any/all input if you have tried this mod successfully!!!
So bridging pins 17 & 20 on the cap of the 20 pin diagnostic port under the hood works in allowing scan tool to access all modules from the interior OBD2 port.
I cleared all stored codes last night to have a clean slate. Well, this morning, while driving, I got a door open error on my dash. I get to my destination and plug in the Schwaben scan tool and the ONLY fault stored is "LCM: 28: light check module: fault stored"
Thoughts on what this means? Fix for it?
TIA
I'm not sure what to tell you. I've only worked with the BMW stuff. INPA will tell you the status of each door and window. You need to find someone with INPA or bring it to a shop that has the BMW diagnostics. Otherwise, you are guessing. When you know which door it is, replace that latch/switch.

At least your on the right path, hang in there. Does the interior light come on when the warning light comes on? Also every door connector is held in with 1 10mm bolt you could just unscrew bolt and unplug door connector, just a thought
