Question about wipers!

I am a little rusty on e46 after all the years not wrenching on BMW specifically. But my sons 2004 325xi the wipers will "park" halfway up the windshield.

I know this was controlled by a relay on earlier cars but the e46 I cannot find my training book. No faults in car. yes they do wipe normally fully cleaning the windshield. they just choose to stop halfway up the windshield.

Am I needing a new wiper motor?
