    4.8 (N62) water pump

    In the process of changing the thermostat at the moment to try and fix a poor heater performance. Using a mirror I looked inside the throat of the water pump (where the thermostat goes) and noticed a jagged edge (see photo). Can anyone tell me if this is normal or should I look at replacing the water pump as well?

    Looks like erosion from the water. Maybe cavitation.

    Thanks for that. Can anyone tell me how much metal is missing or perhaps post a picture of what the pump should look like from that angle. I don't have access to a pump to look and see.
