Anyone use the hella supertone horns?

My stock horns are poor. I am guessing they need a rebuild or replacement.

I'm thinking of these, but either in black or I'm painting them.

They are LOUD which is fine, but they still have that euro sound.

I, along with a few of my euro car buddies, prefer the Hella Sharptones. The supertones seem to have a higher pitch screech where the sharptones are a lower pitch. They are pretty ugly as is, but painting the cages fixes that. Just my .02 cents.

Ill look for them on youtube and see what I think. I liked the pitch of the supertones but it was a bit high pitched.

When I was shopping for horns I opened two tone generator websites on my computer and compared all the available frequencies. I didn't like the 300/500hz or the hideous appearance of those, so I just went with some hella blue snail shaped ones with 300/400hz. I believe realoem will tell you the factory frequency.

    RealOEM states 335/400.

Hella seems to only make gaudy factory color. The sharptones are bright yellow.

I may just try and rebuild the horns. Cant be too much harm opening them up. I also seem to recall that the stock sound was never satisfying, but I have no idea how many decibels they were trying to achieve. It always felt very quiet and muted, but its also possible it was operating with just the high and not the low.

You can find hella horns in various different colors but mostly Subaru people like myself uses them. If you check subimods.com or a few other Subaru performance shops you should find the color you need for the same amazon price.

No problem painting. I'll be painting trim pieces anyways. Ill at least look at the pre-painted ones and get em in black if its the same color.

Im still pretty partial to those supertone. They sound unique and euro. Sharptone sound pretty bland.
