Good day,I need some advise please.....I have a BMW E46 2003 and experience a massive oil leakage. My Oil Cooler housing was recently replace but with this oil leak we open the housing and realized that the O-ring needs to be replaced. We also noticed that the chain tentioner between the cams was broken. That was also replaced, but when the car was start....it idles for 5min and cut out. Somehow we noticed on the Vanos Solinoids and the Oil filter there are metal flakes on. Does anybody what is could be and where the flakes might come from?Your help and advise will be appreciated

Welcome to the forum.
It's very important that you identify the car fully, especially as you're in South Africa, where the engine selection is likely quite different from that with which most of us are familiar. What engine do you have? Better yet, give us the last seven digits of the VIN, so we can look at the arrangement of cooler parts. I don't understand how a cooler was replaced and this allowed you to see that the chain tensioner was broken.
Truth is, though, that "metal shavings" are going to need a thorough inspection by the best BMW specialist mechanic you can find.
That same mechanic can also read all the codes, which might point to the culprit for the stalling.
