    Solid Steering guibo

    Who has done it?

    Worth it?

Or should I just replace with a new one?

I have my front subframe off and now would be a good time.

    TIA

I have had the 5 series solid unit for ~2 years now, no issues and I'm pretty violent with my car.

No issues so far. In fact I couldn't even feel any difference.

No surprise the solid (non articulating) joint caused issues.

If its a dedicated track car any rubber you can get out of the car other than the tires is a win.

I may be mistaken but I remember it's also rubber because it's made to shear off in a severe accident

This is what I was thinking. Car is a race car period.

    No rubber is good.

    Thanks

Does this have the correct size and # of splines for our e36 cars?

E34 steering U joint. I've had one on for two years now with no issues. Improved my steering feel over the stock rubber.

I also use the Flaming River u-joint, on a 1994 325is with stock rack and column. Works fine, fits great.
If God meant for man to motor-swap LS engines into track cars, He wouldn't have created Corvettes.

The only thing you need to do is; drill a dimple for the set screw in the upper shaft. Use red loctite for the set screws. Then tighten down the jam nuts.

I've had the E34 joint for about a year. Works well.
