    Back in a Wagon!!

Hey guys, earlier this month, I bought a wagon off of a member (ThxALot). So now I am the happy owner of a 2003 540i Msport Wagon with the 6spd manual swap!!! Super excited, except for the fuel economy and high CA gas prices, but it's comfortable, quick, well maintained, and clean as hell.

Anyhow, I'll be looking to upgrade the old ass dynavin that doesn't work well with my Google Pixel, and maybe a few other things along the way.

Pictures are good. You know, you can use the B.F's picture hosting sevice!!
Just post on the full site format and nothing will get lost when Imgur, Flickr etc decides to hold you ransom.

I don't know how much of an issue it is, but I'm sure the forum isn't generating tons of revenue, so I figure I'll try and host on other people's servers, just to lower running and storage costs

So far I've replaced the rear gate and glass shocks, oil change, and so far that's all that it needs. in about two months I'll buy the new Dynavin to replace the one I have.

Man, that is a nice score! 03 M-Sport wagon with a black interior *and* a manual swap? You're winning at life there.

folded down the seats and sleep in the car at Willow Springs this past weekend. Fuzzy Granite is the best way to describe the sensation. Anyway, I'm looking at the new Dynavin. Thoughts on it or any other head unit that works with the steering wheel controls?

I love my Dynavin N6, it works great and looks good in my car. And it works with my stock DSP system, so no complaints there.

I just purchased an e-o-n-o-n, and this seems a whole lot better. I'm probably going to hold off until I see a few more Avin reviews. Looks pretty slick!

I installed an inexpensive camera from EBay hooked up to my Alpine. Comes on automatically in reverse. Excellent!

how did you run the cable to the gate? I have my eye on a cheap wireless camera on ebay to avoid the routing issue.

I did not run it through the tailgate. I could not find a route crossing the hatch opening I was comfortable with. Routed through spare tire well and out the back below the bumper. Thought about wireless but you have add power to the receiver.

Wow, DSP compatible. Nice. Gotta wait until next year to see some reviews.

based on the reviews of the previous unit, it should be pretty amazing.

^ I also do not want to mess with the tailgate, but this looks very doable. How did you connect to the rear lights, to make it come on automatically when in reverse?

The connection was made to the gear selector in the console up front.

Replaced my SLS airbags last night. Took about 2 hours, but that included beers. The hardest part was trying to jack up the second side with the first sides airbag completely deflated. Note, jack up both sides and put on jack stands before removing parts. Makes things easier.
