so my brake lights are not working. i have no idea when this started, but clearly this could be an issue.
- there is no warning on the mid
- the bulbs are good
- when i pull the fuse, i get "brake light circuit" warning on the mid
- i took a look behind the pedal, the switch is there seemingly fine, with no corrosion. the plunger appears to release and depress with brake pedal movement.
could that switch be faulty without throwing an mid code?
where else should i be looking?
Broken wire in boot lid
third brake in the rear window light does not work also. is a wire in the boot lid still a possibility?
no, it is the switch... a broken wire throws the warning code, the switch doesn't - it just never activates the brake lights

ok...well the switch is available for <$20, so i'll SWITCH it out and let you guys know.
thanks!
If you're going to remove the switch, pull/pry the red collar entirely forward with the brake pedal depressed before pinching the two release tabs to release the switch from the bracket. Don't ask me how I know.

yup. brake light switch. replaced. lights work again.
i just cut the tip of the plunger/button off and slid the collar and button out, rather that trying to pinch and pull.
Good job
