Just took the sixer on its first track outing. Lotsa fun on a challenging twisty track - Winton.
Each time I did about 4 laps and the auto went into limp home mode. Stuck in 3rd gear, no downshifting. Transmisson warning light came on in instrument cluster. After about 30 min rest all was good only to happen again next time out.
No other obvious problems, and drove 1 hour down the freeway later and all good.
I'm suspecting it may just be a faulty TX temp sensor as I understand this transmission is meant to go into limp home mode when too hot. It's only happened once before driving around town on a really hot summer day.
Any easy way to check this? Or is it likely to be the start of one thing more serious?
The first thing I would do is a proper servicing of the gearbox. Drain, remove the pan and clean, replace the filter, refill, start engine, brake on run through all gears and top off fluid.
