So the new nissens radiator arrived today. I attempted to install it in the 83 320i with the 3spd auto trans and the radiator lines won't screw onto the radiator due to not being the same size. The part number is 17111121115. It's like it is the wrong radiator yet it fits perfectly in the car. My old BMW radiator has two welded in long posts with threads for the radiator lines. The new radiator has shorter posts with a washer and nut holding the posts in.
Anyone have any information on why the incorrect size threaded posts? It's like I need adapters to connect the transmission lines to the radiator.
I can post pictures of that would help.
Thanks in advance.

I purchased this radiator in May it lined up in my 82 320i Auto. Had to move the cooler lines slightly 1/2 inch to the driver side by no big deal as the are flex hoses. http://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo....011531&jsn=376 Nice copper tank, i replaced the Behr plastic tank, which looked to be from 1990.
Good to know. Looking at the photo via the link you posted the radiator I received is not the same specific to the trans lines posts. I will call ecstuning on Monday. Thanks for the reply and information.
Here are a few photos of both radiators. I am posting for others to reference in future searches. I called ECSTuning and they are working with Nissens to identify why there is a difference in radiators.
This photo is of the OEM BMW radiator trans line post:

This photo is of the Nissens trans line post. There is an obvious difference in post length however what is not necessarily clear from the photo is the Nissens post is larger than the BMW OEM:

Here is a photo of one of the trans lines and an attempt to connect it to the Nissens radiator:

I can see what your talking about, that AT fitting doesn't look like it will line up it's tight sown there.
Do you have a hydraulic hose shop around you? If so, you could get new hose ends crimped on or an adapter that may make it fit.
Yeah that is an idea. I decided to send the radiator back to ECStuning. I took my radiator to a shop to get it cleaned out. I got it back today. I am going to post in another thread I created looking for help on this 3/4 temp issue I have been troubleshooting.
