    Stuck transmission fill plug

Tried to get out full plug with 8mm hex key and almost completely stripped. Used pb blaster and still no luck. Any ideas? Is there another way to fill transmission fluid?

Well this is going to sound crazy but with a pump I filled mine through the line that connects to the transmission cooler. Did you already drain it?

No. I read I should get the fill plug loose first

Glad you at least read first. A lot of people drain then worry about the plug. If you've already sprayed PB blaster, you can try and taking a torch around the plug to try and break loose any material around it and expand the metal and try again.

Yes I'm using an 8mm hex socket. My full plug is not a torx.

A few strikes with a sharp chisel and hammer will get it out.

No its not. If you use a Torx you will definitely strip the bolt. Ask me how I know.

If you use the correct size Allen (Hex) head stripping the bolt is very difficult. You may break the socket first.

Soak in PB Blaster, use a chisel maybe with it. I recommend against heat on the trans. Trans fluid is hydraulic fluid, and is highly flammable.

Yeah my first thought was "no flame near tranny fluid!"

Good job on reading first, but again try using that fluid line to fill it up. Who knows though if you can even get the drain plug off though? =D

I would be wary of this. The pan is fairly thin - you don't want it cracked to add to your problems

idk thats weird are we talking about the same thing.. on every 5hp24 i've touched it's been a torx 50 or 55 ( cant remember exactly ) and i've never stripped one banging on my ratchet with a BFH and they always came loose with a swing or two
these are really hard to strip, so good going OP
