I purchased a early e39 540i, Canyonrot & beige, a few months ago...it already had a Dinan cai installed.
Can you only get official Dinan points by using only new Dinan parts on the car? Obviously I'd be getting the engine & transmission tunes done at a Dinan dealer...but can I get Dinan points while using used Dinan parts?

Why not ask Dinan?
BTW, those look like E31 wheels. They must be bored out.

Dinan stuff is overpriced and you get a lot more bang for your buck with other parts. The only benefit of Dinan is the warranty and it being approved by BMW so it won't ruin the warranty on a new car (at least from what I remember). When I bought my 2000 M5 it was a Dinan S1 with a serial number and badge. The first thing I did was scrape the Dinan badge off and sell off all the Dinan parts. I made a lot of money off of those, haha.

I'm pretty sure the wheels are e36 "throwing star" reps...but they do look cool, they came with the car....also bilstein sport shocks all around.
Guess I'll just save my nickels for regular go fast goodies then...obviously my car's waaay outta warranty.

Talk to DUDMD in these threads. He's got a pkg that basically replaces the CAI, maf, tb, and the Dinan intake plenum but performance is at or above what Dinan sells for a fraction of the cost. I'll issue you Plattus Points for that.
On the exhaust, m5Jed has you covered there. His headers are better than Dinan's for less money.
Add a 3:15 diff (junk yard) add limited slip and bolt on the stuff Dima (DUDMD) tells you to and let him tune it.
Or, with these cars, because there are so many still on the roads. I give equal credit to a fast e39 as I do a clean and straight one looking right. My personal rating system only mind you but when I see a clean one with no dents or chips in the paint and the stance is perfect, I get jealous but if there's a faster e39, I just figure I'll be there one day but I can't go back in time to have my car perfect without mucho dinero compared to just making it faster so choose your path from the two or combine looks with performance. A slower path but a fun one.
Sorry. It's a dead horse conversation here. Everyone who's ever signed up has probably asked this question and since the cars are older and we're all wiser, the answers are the same since 2004.
