03 745 li - Input, please

I bought a car with out making sure the miles/km matched the ad selling it. So basically I have an 03 745 li with 285k/177mi on it. Mechanic says its not too bad, but a cylinder isnt firing and the horn doesnt work. My plan initally was to gove this car a little TLC and maybe sell it or drive it for a bit. Now that it has way more mileage on it than i thought i am not sure what to do. I dont think Ill get my money back out of it if i sell so I am wondering if I should just put this car on the road and drive it or take the hit. How reliable is this car? I like it would love to drive it buy im scared it wil fall apart soon at that mileage.

An 03 745li is not known for its reliability, but rather the opposite.
This is not the type of car or model to choose as an investment,
But more for personal enjoyment, so have your wallet ready.
