For these I’d expect stock is good.

True for a M52. Not true for the M52TU and later. These cars use an electric pump to pressurize the tank, rather than the old system of using engine vacuum to depressurized the tank.

Nothing special. I buy vacuum line by the reel. Line from the valve to the solenoid under #6 runner. Solenoid to the vacuum nipple farm on the back of the plenum. Multiple vacuum caps also in that farm, three if I remember. Replace them all, they rot too. Then the hose from the back of the ccv cyclone to the fuel press regulator.
As much of a pita getting to these are, just be glad you don't have an e46. Those I pull the manifold to change hoses.
Thanks for the tip. Think I’ll look into a spool of vacuum hose. Need to find the right diameter and material. Happy to pop for some silicone line if there’s a durability advantage. I’m not trying to bling up the engine bay (not that there’s anything wrong with that), but I’d spring for more expensive line if it was likely to last longer.
Wonder if it’s worth redoing the PCV system now, too. Car has 68K on it, but it’s also about 19 years old.

Thread back from the dead. I’ll repost codes, but they won’t have changed much. 2000 Z3C 2.8 manual. Sat for a while with airbag codes and a distracted owner. Finally fixed the airbag. But I let the SAP issue languish, kept the car off the road, but maintained it in running condition. It’s time to get this one back as a full up round.
Looking at Randy’s suggestions, I have three vacuum lines and, perhaps, a valve cover gasket as potential remedies. Given that my now 20 year old car has a lot of original rubber on the engine, what things should I consider doing at the same time?
Thanks in advance!
