Pop Up lights - can they be left up at all times

    Hello

I am trying to diagnose temperamental pop up lights.. when i flick the switch sometimes one goes up, both, other side, etc. Same when i switch off, sometimes one goes down and the other doesn.

i am going to check relay K39, and LCM (in that order), but in the meanwhile I was wondering is there a way to leave both up?

Can I simply remove K39 once both are up? or is it dangerous to LCM or any other component?

    thanks!

the only danger is that a stone chip might break the glass. Remove the headlight actuator relay once they are up. This will give you the opportunity to check that relay for broken solder joints - usually just reflowing the solder will fix the problem. The LKM will not be harmed by this action.

Check the wiring harnesses that go to the headlights. They are normally in very bad shape if they haven't been repaired/replaced already.

Almost certainly an LKM module failure. You may find the module smells burnt if you remove it or there may be signs of overhaeting on the outer plastic case.

First, reflow the solder at the base of the relay where the base of the relay connects to the pcb. Pretty sure that you have cold or cracked solders joints there which definitely will cause the problem you are describing. Common issue...
