    Parting M60B40

    I am parting the M60B40 from my 740. I know the alternator is bad, but everything else was functioning when I pulled it into the garage. Let me know if you need anything.

    For those interested, it does have the early, better breathing intake manifold.

    93 740i with 235k. Engine has approx 155k (nikasil replacement at 80k) Located in 46077

    While I would be happy to get rid of the entire thing all at once, I am not sure this would be the best drop in. It ingested a nut and bent a valve. I replaced the head, but the piston top was scared from the event. Drove it for probably 4 years after that. Does not burn any oil, and does idle as smooth as it should. Only things gone are headers

    Pulled the engine in anticipation of a swap.

    At 80k chances are yours was well into the period when Alusil was the replacement and is of course the better one to be offering for sale.
    A scarred piston top doesn't mean anything unless there were sharp edges to promote detonation. Running it for 4 years and not burning oil seems testimony that it survived the event well.
    Good luck with sale, you'll be well served(or not) to clarify which block you have.
    Sorry for the confusion. Nikasil block was replaced with Alusil block. Before I purchased it I contacted the local BMW dealer who looked up the records of the warranty replacement. I am happy to provide pics of the engine ID. Engine / tranny are sitting on a cart in my garage right now, so easy to get at.

    Yes, it has the interior velocity stacks. It is available and ready to ship $125 plus shipping - USPS priority mail

    Everything is still available. Let me know what you want before I have someone pull it apart to scrap.
