E36 M3 - Repairable Race Car

What do you do after collecting two 1st, and one 2nd place finishes and dumping over $20 grand of upgrades into your first racecar? Crash it, of course! And while the car is repairable, our team decided to pay it forward. Thus, you can pick up a complete Track/Race Car (in need of some TLC) for $6000.

What?s the Damage? The car hit the outside wall in turn 10 at BIR at 26 MPH (per the data logger). Click here for the video of the accident. It hit squarely on the Driver?s Side, flattening all left body panels, the left side control/trailing arms and axle, and bent the floor in a couple places, suggesting a minor bend in the frame. I got a quote for $2000 to get the frame straightened out, but opted instead to park the car and move down a class in World Racing League from GP1 to GP2 in an E36 323is. As you can see in the above pic, the right side is still quite nice. Since the crash this car has been stored in my friend's enclosed garage.

What?s Good about it? Everything listed below, and much more. The car came with a great cage, motor, and orange wrap from the PO. $22,000 later, everything else was refreshed/replaced professionally to go racing. You always go over-board on your first race car. The S52 motor has a tune and makes great power, and still starts right up - Click to see it running here (no exhaust on it currently).
