I have seen a lot of posts on this topic but I haven't seen one for the situation I'm in
I have bought a doner 323i e36 auto and was wondering if I can just bolt up the gearbox from my manual 323i to the auto engine ?
Only reason im posting this is that the donor auto engine is out the car and so is the old manual gearbox (I'm slow and need exact instructions lol)
Both cars are 1998 If that helps
any help is appriceated, thanks

Help everyone out and let us know what you know about the swap, aside from attaching the trans to the block and putting it in the car... There is a sticky at the top that is many pages long the describes the very same thing you want to do with a lot of info. It will pay to take the time and go through it. It's about the pedal set, the master cylinder, ideas in what people are doing with the computer, the EWS, running reverse wire and/or tubing before the engine goes in, etc. There is a lot there.

There is no difference between engine of a auto tranny car and a 5 speed car. They are identical. The harness is different and the dme is coded different. Swapping just the engine is a simple plug and play swap.
