The car is a '96 850Ci with the M73 engine
Well,
I finally got the new transmission installed by myself, and everything seemed to work fine. Until...
I took the car on a trip for about an hour on the freeway, no problems, about 14 hours later I fired it up for the return trip and it began to over heat almost immediately, made it about 5 miles before I had to shut it down and had it trailerd home. When I tried to start it to put it on the trailer the car would not start, No crank, nothing. Like some safety feature was holding it out. I got i home and pushed it into my garage, hooked it up to INPA, and it showed codes 134 and 142, both a P0601 code "Releasing Error from main Logic." and they would not clear. I also later got codes 50 and 51, Pedal Position Sensor, and thy would not clear either.
Could this be related to the overheating? It seems like a separate problem.
What is this going to take to fix?
A reflash of the EML? A New EML? New EML and DMEs?
I have been trying to find info on these codes, and the process for changing the EML. I figured some assigning of the module and programming will be required.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Ryan
Start by checking Fuse 1:

...as that supplies power for the EML and the starting system.
Also, physically check the battery voltage with a meter, it will be interesting to see what the voltage is as low voltage can cause these problems.
When your engine overheated was there a lot of steam? Did the engine actually overheat or was this an electrical problem?

There was quite a bit of steam, would I just need to clean the contacts? That would explain why more sensor errors would appear later on.
The car did actually over heat, I've diagnosed it as either stuck closed thermostat or air in the lines.
I have to get it to start before I can go any further with that problem.
It's been one thing after another with this project. Hopefully I get to enjoy driving it soon.

Timm, you were spot on, Fuse 1 was blown. Replaced it and it started right up.
Bled the coolant system and it seems like it wont over heat anymore. But I get no hot air out of the vents.
BUT... Now I have no response from the gas pedal at all, and the once I shut it down after trying the accelerator pedal it would not start again.
Any Ideas on the cause of that? I do need to open up the drivers footwell to find the missing OBD port for emissions, so is ther anything to look for there?
Resync the Eml, it's an M73 and they do that sometimes.
