Is this the correct amount of coolant ?

It's a 2011 335i manual. I don't know when the dip stick was damaged or gone, so I used to measure the level by the min and max Mark inside.
Today I got my car back from the dealer after regular maintenance and noticed they topped up coolant till the filler up which is much above than the max Mark. So I removed coolant and it was like appx a quart and made the level near the max mark.
Am I doing something wrong or it's the dealership who messed up?

Oh, forgot to mention - I checked the coolant when it's cold. Car was in my garage whole night and then checked in the morning

There is no dipstick. You are using the correct method to determine the level. When cold, it should just cover the yellow thing in there that says min/max.

If you pulled out a full quart, then whoever serviced your car is a dumbass. Or just doesn't know any better. A lot of rookie tech's just fill the reservoirs to the top, leaving no room for expansion (hence the name, expansion tank).

    Thanks.
Yeah, I was quite surprised seeing the dealer invoice where they did complementary fluid top up. When I saw they mentioned coolant, I immediately checked as I flushed my system a month back.
I took out almost a quart and now the level is just a little below max. Drove the car for 30 mins and then checked next morning, and it's on the perfect spot.
