Good to know about lithium grease. I purchased 2 new C clips @ 6 bucks each. I was told by the parts guy if I needed the pins, they're only 17 left in the country.

That probably doesn't mean what you think it means. I've heard that dozens of times for various parts ... 99% of the time, more will come. It means that if you want 18 right now, it'll take a couple of extra weeks if they are in a German warehouse, or a couple of extra months if they have to go back to a supplier.Originally Posted by redlinealley

One never knows. Unless they're used on other cars, I can't see them making these pins or other small parts for ever... I've been waiting 3+ months for my shifter console piece in gray to come back in stock.

Dang - This just happened to me today. I was able to manually get the thing back down (sort of), but what a pain.
Is the piece that broke something that could be re-manufactured on a small scale from billet aluminum or glass filled nylon?

Well that's cool news. Maybe I won't go digging into mine to try to remake it.
Maybe by driving season next year something might be available?
