My fob didn't unlock my car so I used the physical key in it to unlock my car. My car's interior lights are on, however when I inserted my fob and press "Start" my engine doesn't turn on and none of the lights on the dashboard came on.
I've tried jump starting it, but it didn't work. However, I'm also not sure if I did it right as this is the first time I tried jump starting a keyless car. I pressed "Start" with my foot on the break and also tried with the foot on gas, but nothing worked.
I read my manual and it seemed my fob should be recharging everytime I drive and I was only been gone for 3 days. However, I've never changed the battery in my fob (4+ years) and it is a used car so I'm not sure when the last time it was changed.
My question is, is my car's battery dead or it's my fob's battery that's causing the car won't start? I'm pretty confused here.
Thanks!
If you tried jumping the car when connected to the battery and it didn't work, that's not your key fob - I would first try to replace it to see if that solves the issue. Battery is similar to a watch battery. Also, try to pull the car's codes to see what comes up; that could help you troubleshoot as well. Best of luck!
