Hi,
This summer I will try to get my car back on the road. Yesterday we worked with and serviced the car.
After a oil change with 15w40 I noticed that the oil lamp are really slow to turn off and if you push the test button while driving the test lamp are flickering. I have a e32 where the problem with the pressure were the oil canister but the E23 has a different design.
What are the first step to get the lamp to turn off more quickly?

Nice car- Need more information, how long does it stay on, cold engine or warm engine, high miles or not???
Most likely it's the oil pressure sensor at the back of the head, passenger side (single blade) these are known to fail. Very easy to replace and cheap, the oil pumps on the M30 motors are pretty stout and don't fail very often.
I'd also rethink the oil you're using, these older BMW motors need to be run with the "dino" oil, has good amounts of zinc which is needed for engine wear protection, lots of info if you search.
Post more images and details of the car, I also have a '79 e23 and would be especially be interested in engine bay images.

Ford, MB, and GM round out the pack.
This week I finally found time to change the brake booster - not so complicated as first expected but the bomb must wait for winter! Next thing is the brake fluid and to spare my marriage I have ordered a electric pump so I can tackle the job alone!
The oil pressure sensor is lying and waiting to be changed..
The seller I got the car from has this video on youtube of my car. I have though upgraded to leather that I found and picked up in Holland.

Could not resist installing one of the new French headlamps. Looks okay - right? :-)

It's not a problem, as long as the light goes out. There are two pressure switches on these engines, and when the same thing happened to mine, I got my local BMW garage to swap them out. it didn't solve the problem, so the only thing left was the oil pump. Swapped it out, and the problem remained. The following month, I picked up BMW Car magazine, which had a feature on the E23, and it actually referred to the lazy oil light, and said it was nothing to worry about. I was £300 poorer, and to think that the BMW garage didn't already know about it!
Thank you.. It is a pain to look at the oil lamp until it turns off :-)
