Post ABS problem... A little different from the rest I've seen

Hey guys, I'm brand new to the forums and BMW!

About 6 months ago I finally purchased a 2000 5 series. Looks good runs great, but has a strange problem..

I had the 3 ABS lights that I've seen a lot of BMW owners posting about (ABS, DSC and Brake). Those 3 lights popped up on mine but everything else (speedometer, fuel gauge) worked just fine. I bought the BMW scan tool and the adapter for the port under the hood. I scanned the ABS and it said front right sensor was bad. I changed it with an OEM part, no changes. Last week the dash lights came on, but the time it was just 2 of them, DSC and ABS.. No brake light. Now the speedometer doesn't work and the fuel gauge if "iffy" when it's low. Also, ever since the brake light stopped coming on, I am unable to scan the ABS system under the hood.

Does this still sound like the module is bad?

    Thanks!

Thanks for the response! I'm probably going to send it to be rebuilt, as long as it's not too far gone. I found someone on eBay that does it for $95.

Agreed sounds like bad module. Gas tank is separate issue but all the other stuff points the same direction.

I would definitely check the rear left speed sensor. That's the one that controls the speedo. A decent chance that it's the problem. Go with BBA on eBay if you want to repair the module

Thanks for the reply. BBA is the one is actually the one I was planning going with.

Could the rear left sensor be bad even if it's not throwing a code?

I replaced the left rear sensor with no results. I'm sending the abs module out as soon as he sends me the shipping label.
