I have had 2 BMW's totaled. Last one was a 99 528it, very similar, front to back side swipe. You have to remember 60% of repair is totaled. My 528 would have cost 6,000 to fix, so it was gone. That was a e39. an e31 is going to cost more to fix because the parts are more expensive. It is very expensive to fix a car now days, labor is the real killer.I can see with that damage that they will not fix it, no matter the year. Yu have to look at it from the money side.
Hey my Friend Steve, If you need some help feel free to give me a call. Whatever you decide to do. I'm glad nobody got hurt...

I agree with the others. That's not a total loss. Not even close but to the insurance adjuster it is. As another has said, take what they are going to give you and roll that into the repairs. My father did that years back when allstate pulled the same thing on him. Totaled the car. He took the money and had the car repaired. He continued to drive the car until he passed away a few years ago. I drove the the car for the first time prior to selling it and it drove just fine. The damage on his car was far more severe than yours and his car wasn't a classic or to be one like yours. He just liked the car and didn't see the wisdom in throwing away something that could be repaired.

There is actually another member here who could use the help of the Socal 8s getting her car back to it's full glory. I think she mentioned she attended one of the wrenchfests before.
