Neon e36 Grille DIY, need feedback

did this a couple of years ago but never posted it. I always liked it and got good feedback from people on the road, but was wondering what the guys of at bF thought. Its a pretty basic setup, three cords of neon LED rope that I got from eBay for about $20 for everything. I glued it to the grille with silicone and hard wired it into the headlights.

If this could be done with small LEDs in a more rigid strip (like the Orion LED angel eyes) I think it would be a huge improvement.

As far as aftermarket lighting add-ons, it's actually not bad. But it doesn't look straight and the top and bottoms ends where it starts/stops is a bit distracting.

I agree. But one thing I really liked about the neon rope is that it is rather clear in the day, you cant really notice that it is on the grille unless you are really looking at it. That car actually got totaled in a hailstorm but I am considering redoing it on my estoril blue grille, with a straighter glue job..

Not my cup of tea, but if you're going to do it again it may not be a bad idea to spray them with some tinting spray. It'll help hide them a bit more during the day.

Actually you're on to something there. What about getting brighter ones, and gluing them to the back of the grille slats? Then they're invisible in the day, and subtle at night. Best of both.
