    That's a great article...thanks for posting, Alec.
Nice "Behind the Scenes" article about Taylor's car, too (sorry if it's posted elsewhere).

Z1 and 850 were both way ahead of their times. Nice to see both finally getting the recognition they deserve!

BTW, great use of the term "avant garde" to describe both cars, too.

    From Wikipedia:

"The avant-garde (from French, "advance guard" or "vanguard") are people or works that are experimental, radical, or unorthodox..."

"The avant-garde pushes the boundaries of what is accepted as the norm or the status quo..."

"It may be characterized by nontraditional, aesthetic innovation and initial unacceptability..."

Describes these cars quite well, indeed!

Now I want a Z1. Aesthetically the equal of the e31 - in a quirky kind of way. Unfortunately they never sold them in the US.

Now that they are >25 years old, more and more of them are showing up on these shores. With only 8000 made, however, they are even more rare than the 8's, and most of them are still in Germany where 6000-plus of them were originally sold. The blue car in the article is a rare color--only 193 Z1's came from the factory in blue. Most Z1's are red, black or green...sound familiar?
