Yeah that rear-seat limo-environment thing is big with some E38'ers... reclining seats, HVAC, tray tables blah blah (isn't there special unicorn rear opera lights or something for those?). Im guessing there's a whole lot of E38 type stuff you could retro, that car had more weirdo Individual special luxo options I think... of course that starts to dilute the purity of the idea of a "max optioned E39" as it becomes a "E38/39 hybrid max option" setup...
Re: the rear seat thing - I've sat in the back of an E38 w/ that stuff and while it's kinda cool I just couldn't ever get excited about using my own energy and time for stuff like that. The dual glazing windows and stuff like that that could have benefits for driver - for sure cool.

There's a guy on Instagram that has a ton of e38 stuff retrofited to his e39T, I can't remember his username for the life of me but I'll get it to you. Pretty sure he's on here too, but he doesn't post a lot

I'm about to swap the seats in my wagon for the 18 way comfort seats out of an '01 740iL that was at the junk yard, whole car is in excellent condition, bad guides, still runs, 140,000 miles. The interior was immaculate, not a sport, but they only want 50 bucks a seat, so I got those, the arm rest, already retro fitted in my car, got all the inner door handles along with the leds and everything. If they get a sport in, then I'll grab the seats and sell these.

I love this thread , oh there is so much stuff to add onto e39
-folding mirrors with electrochromatic glass (heating, seat memory, auto dimming)
-alcantara suede roof trim
-rearview mirror with compass and garage door remote
-fire extinguisher under front seats
Kontur seat from late models e38 has everything, just find them... I put in my car from 96 e38, there was no lumbar support so i retrofit from mine comfort seats.
S-EDC is coooool stuf to have it on car, when you lower the car up to -30mm in front and -20mm on rear, car is so fun to drive in both modes and still can be comfort.
here are pictures of mine 540 with S-EDC for little motivation.

So I came across the coding options the other day for the 'rear mid' and occurred to me I'm not sure that's mentioned in this thread yet?
Would be a lot of wiring I imagine to get it retrofitted (prob ideally would want to pull a big chunk of loom from a junkyard car) but its a pretty unique option. That said if you've done the 'drinks cooler' this probably is easier than that was...
The E39 version is bit different from the more commonly seen E38 as the E38 comes w/ rear power seat options, whereas the E39 is just a rear MID (this thread says it's called the "FID"... who knew...)

Thanks for your posts. Yes, I am going to retrofit folding side mirros with memory together with electric steering wheel adjustement (also with memory).
Alcantara headliner also will be. Im thinking to make rear parcel shelf alcantra coated also.
SEDC is great option, but this is really big job I think, so this retrofit is going to be I think the very last.
Contour seats are in search, but it is really hard to find them.
Rear MID option I want very much as picnit tables and vanity mirros, if I'll be lucky enough I will buy them, but these options are so rare that you can search them for years...
And here some updates on my e39:
DSP retrofitted. Well, it is not so good, but comparing to how it was before there is huge diference. Souds great, maybe subwoofer is a little bit too weak, but its is enough for me. And I like OEM.

And found the leathered center console. Just will need to paint it to black with leather paint.
Looking for leathered main panel and door cards from M5 extended leather option.

Also I decided that I dont like birche antrhazite. Can sell it to somebody. Open for offers.
Do you have a DIY for retrofitting DSP? I am stuck on the base stereo system not the HI-FI or DSP System.
Nice. Where did you find a grey leather console. I want one of those!

Sorry, but I dont have any DIY, and nowhere didnt found myselft before retrofit. But fortunatelly I know one guy who is very good in BMW electronic schemes and wirring, so he did job done for me. There was 2 reasons why i instaled factory DSP to my vehicle. 1st is because as you know I want to load it full of OEM factory options. 2nd is because I got set for very cheap price, subwoofer, all speakers, AMP and wirring harnnes + instalation cost me abour ~120$. This amount I think is ridiculous for music system improovement, and it improoved very much considering of the price. It sound very loud and clear, only issue is that bass is a little bit too weak. But when I remember how it was with stereo then it becomes great . Offcourse if you cant source it cheap, dont know how or dont know who can install it to your car, then it is not worht it really. But I like it, and I like the visual look in the boot of subwoofers, looks very factory.
Leather console I found in some junk yard. And its not grey, its green or electro blue.. Will become black
