Question Difficult 4>5 Upshift when Tranny Hot on Track. Fluid choices?

Two years ago my transmission exhibited a difficult 4>5 upshift on track after everything in the trans was very hot. It seemed to go away last year. However it returned at NJMP this Thursday/Friday. Oddly, all downshifts are just fine.

Clutch is original at 124k, clutch is fully bled properly, new clutch MC a few years ago.

This doesn't seem to be a problem when the transmission isn't super hot (at least I don't think so, I don't shift at 7k on the street from 4>5!)

I currently run Royal Purple Synchromax in the trans.

Any other suggestions on fluid that may fair better at high temps?

Mine did that a few years ago, went back to normal as soon as the fluid cooled back down. It only happened a couple of times, when at summer events with super hot weather and (I think) on old trans fluid. I run Redline D4 ATF and it hasn't come back. I change the fluid once a year.

I also run redline d4 and change it before each season. No problems

It most likely not the fluid related, but detent pins instead. It could be that running different fluid is only masking the original problem.

Could be. Does have the lean of doom for a bit if I shift to 5th before it is warm.

I had the same problem with 4-3 downshifts when I ran RP Synchromax . . . it just got too thin at high temperatures. Switched to AMSOIL synthetic manual synchromesh fluid and everything is much smoother now.

I found an old thread where James Clay recommended D4 ATF, and the Autotechnic guys also run it in their race cars. Gonna give it a go.

Also bought a new clutch pedal (I was doing some under-dash investigation and found the holes had some ovality and slop to em) and flex line to the slave. See if that coupled with new fluid has any effect.

I tried running the uuc mix to quiet down the flywheel noise. I would have to shift so slow when cold to avoid grinding. Then when it got real hot it would start to grind again if I shifted to quick. (On track)

Went back to straight d4 and it shifts perfect cold or hot again.

D4 ATF. It's what the manual says.
