Hi since i bought my e46 there is no seat belt light coming on regardless if seat belt is plugged in or not, light goes on when key is turned on then goes of with all the lights after couple of seconds, i really want it to work to remind me to wear my safety belt, any suggestion please and thanks in advance
Check if the bulb is burnt out or removed
Shogun tricks and tips for the E32 series are HERE!
Google "BMW E46 hidden OBC functions." One of the rests will "exercise" the gauge cluster. The seat belt warning is supposed to be on during the test. If it does come on during the rest the seat belt electronics need to be checked out.
The light does come on so the bulb aint the problem, it just goes off after the test sequince(spelling sorry) are done.
this is the buckle i have, is there sensors or something in the buckle to know a belt is plugged in cause no wire goes into it
I get your observation. I would wonder if the seat belt contacts...the electrical contacts intended...in the seat belt it's self, have become worn and not making an electrical connectivity to confirm on your dash? .....It might be just this simple!... hopefully!

How about doing some actual diagnostics? Hook the car up to INPA and see what's going on

The part in the picture does have a switch that is used to determine if the belt "tongue" is properly latched. That switch has been removed if there are no wires.
